[Transition to to the scene of D'Artagnan's memorial service. Shining Armour is standing at a podium, next to a large object that is covered by a black sheet (later revealed to be a memorial plaque). Princesses Celestia and Luna stand on either side of the covered plaque, Twilight, Pinkie (who is still wearing her mane straight and still has the same blank expression she possessed from after D'Artagnan's death), Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Spike all stand sombrely and are all dressed in black clothing appropriate to their personal taste (i.e. Spike would be wearing a tuxedo and Rarity would be wearing a full, funeral-style ensemble with a black veil, etc...), and the girls are all wearing their necklaces of Harmony.  Among the audience are; members of the Canterlot Guard, in ceremonial armour, some of the ponies that D'Artagnan saved from the fire, from the previous episode, and ponies in ceremonial kilts, carrying bagpipes slung over their shoulders (the bagpipe-ponies are positioned on either side of the audience as they are to play the instrumental for "Amazing Grace" towards the end of the service.) The memorial service is taking place outdoors in a hillside with Canterlot in the background. It is late evening. There is not a cloud in the sky, and the stars are twinkling brightly.]

[Shining Armour clears his throat]

SA: [his voice is amplified] We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of D'Artagnan. I say celebrate not to lighten the mood, but because those who knew him, however briefly, know that he would not have wanted us to be mournful of his passing. For he always took joy in seeing others happy.

[Pinkie continues to sit with the same blank expression. Spike waves his hand by her head. Spike turns to Rainbow Dash.]

Sp: [in a whisper.] What's wrong with her?

RD: I don't know, but I'm starting to get worried.

[Shining Armour resumes his speech.]

SA: As with all of us, D'Artagnan's spirit has become one of the vast number of stars in the sky. However, due to a special request by his close friends, Princesses Celestia and Luna have agreed to brighten his star, so that he will always be visible to all who care to look. May he remain forever in our hearts and minds.

[Shining turns to the Princesses and the bagpipe-ponies and nods to each respectively. The bagpipe-ponies then begin to play the instrumental part to "Amazing Grace". As the music plays, Celestia and Luna look skyward and send a bolt of magic towards a star. This star slowly becomes significantly brighter than the ones around it. The bagpipes come to a gradual stop.]

SA: Lastly, the population of Canterlot have agreed to leave this hillside barren and untouched, but for a memorial plaque, which shall stand here in honour of the sacrifice he made so that we could be safe. Princesses, if you may.

[Celestia and Luna begin to lift the corners of the sheet with their magic.]

[A shot of Spike shows him looking skyward, and his expression becomes one of confusion. He nudges Rainbow Dash and points her towards the strange sight. She points at the sky.]

RD: Hey! What's that?!?

[The audience, Shining Armour, and the Princesses all look up at the sky. The camera angle shifts to reveal that D'Artagnan's star is becoming rapidly larger. Twilight shades her eyes with her hoof and squints. Another shot of the star shows that the star begins to grow a tail similar to that of a comet or meteorite. Twilight lowers her hoof with a look of shock.]

TS: EVERYPONY MOVE!

[The audience scatters from the hill in a frantic rush, and make it away before the meteorite strikes the hillside. The camera then shows the sheet covering the memorial get blown into the sky, but the lettering on the plaque in not visible due to the light created by the meteors impact. After the event expires, the ponies slowly return to the hill and move towards the impact crater. Pinkie Pie sees the cover-sheet fall into the crater and goes after it. Rarity peers over the lip of the crater.]

Ra: Pinkie Pie, do be careful. You don't know what's down there.

[Pinkie does not respond, and gallops the centre of the crater. The sheet is covering a lumpy shape. Fluttershy, Rainbow, Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Spike join Pinkie Pie and form a semi-circle around the sheet. Spike pokes it and, much to his surprise, the covered mass moves. It stands up and the sheet falls to the ground, revealing a living, breathing D'Artagnan. The group gasps in shock, and D'Artagnan looks at all of them, and stops at Pinkie Pie.]

Da: Looks like I'm going to make that birthday party after all.

[Pinkie's lips quiver and she begins to cry, and wraps D'Artagnan in a hug. The others follow suit, some more composed than others, and they stay there as the camera zooms out showing the memorial plaque laying on its side. The words are clear and read:

In honour of D'Artagnan the unicorn. Hero and dearest friend. Lest we forget.

[Gradual transition to Princess Celestia's throne room. The Princess is in a sitting position while looking through paperwork. Suddenly, there is a flash of green light next to her. So, she looks down to see a letter. Curious, she pick up the letter and begins to look it over. D'Artagnan's voice is heard as internal monologue, for it was he who wrote the letter.]

Da: Dear Princess Celestia,

[Gradual transition to Sugarcube Corner where Twilight, Spike, Rainbow, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, and D'Artagnan are celebrating Pinkie's birthday party. Pinkie has returned to her "normal" happy-go-lucky self, and is opening gifts.]

Da: I was told by Twilight that you like receiving letters telling you about lessons that she and the others have learned about friendship. So, here I go. Having friends is quite possibly the most amazing thing any pony could ask for. Because a good friend will be with you, no matter what happens. When I was involved in a situation that made me feel hopeless,

[Pinkie opens a small box with a tag that says; "Happy Birthday Pinkie Pie! From: D'Artagnan", but looks disappointed when there is only a piece of paper inside with the words: "Go outside" on it. D'Artagnan waves her over to the door, and the party moves outside. Pinkie Pie has a confused look on her face and D'Artagnan smiles.]

Da: looking to my friends gave me the strength that I needed to make the right decisions.

[D'Artagnan points at a cloud, and he fires a bolt of magic at the cloud. After being hit by D'Artagnan's magic, the cloud turns pink and begins to rain chocolate milk. D'Artagnan then uses his magic to anchor it to the ground, so that it wouldn't float away. Pinkie stares at the cloud in awe, then begins to glance back and forth between D'Artagnan and the cloud. D'Artagnan nods, and Pinkie races straight into the chocolate rain and begins rolling in the puddles of chocolate milk.]

[Transition back to Princess Celestia's throne room.]

Da: In the end, I've learned that my friends are a gift that most would take for granted. But your friends are what you will always have going for you, even if nothing else is. As a result, I am willing to risk everything in order to ensure their safety and happiness. Because if my friends aren't worth it, then who is?

-Your newest faithful subject, D'Artagnan The Unicorn

PS. If you don't mind, I'd like to remain here, in Ponyville. Your invitation to return to Canterlot was tempting, but it's no longer my home. The Apple family has given me some work to keep me busy, and I still have my room at Twilight's library, so I have a place to stay. With respect, my home is with my friends, and I plan to stick by them to the very end.

[The Princess gives a quite laugh.]

PC: I don't mind at all D'Artagnan.

[She looks up to a new stained-glass window depicting D'Artagnan standing alongside Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rainbow, Rarity, and Twilight in a standoff with Discord.]

PC: I don't mind at all.

THE END.

End Credits.
